How t play hard to get but without him starting to hate you?

i like this guy but he is playing hard to get with me so i want to play hard to get with him. But i am worried that he might just like stop talking to me and start hateing me. How do i play hard to get but still have him not hate me?How t play hard to get but without him starting to hate you?
Don't play. he might not be playing either. if you jsut stop contact with him suddenly and don't say anything to him for a week. he will either come to you and want to talk(at that point you should ask him out) or he won't ever say anything to you either(and he never liked you)
